Breastfeeding Advocacy in 2010: Three organizations dedicated to making a difference
Best for Babes
The Mission: To help moms beat the “Booby Traps“–the cultural & institutional barriers that prevent moms from achieving their personal breastfeeding goals. To inspire, prepare & empower™ moms. To give breastfeeding a makeover and give moms the solutions they need to make it work!
Why We Love Them: Their ad campaign is gutsy and glitzy and bound to get their mission noticed.
Nursing Freedom
The Mission: Protect the rights of breastfeeding moms by advocating for normalization of breastfeeding anytime, anywhere.
Why We Love Them: Their interactive breastfeeding law map and wallet-size cards with breastfeeding laws!
Breastfeeding Rights Association
The Mission: Breastfeeding Rights Association (B.R.A.) supports the normalization of breastfeeding through consumer action and isfounded on the principle that employers should include information regarding breastfeeding laws as part of their standard company training. B.R.A. maintains a boycott list of current companies who have been accused of discrimination or harassment of nursing mothers. Companies remain on the list until they have publicly announced changes in training procedures.
Why We Love Them: B.R.A. - seriously?! Awesome!
